Searchers who ask if Need for Speed Underground 2 is being rebuilt often land on a UE5 demo, not on the browser project. Notebookcheck, on 19 May 2026, calls 2Unreal5Underground TUFU and describes AI traffic, free roam, and outrun. That explicit name connection is currently attributed to Notebookcheck alone. Gamepressure lists a Windows TUFU demo at 2,437.9 MB, updated 7 January 2025; those size and date figures are from that listing alone. The two sources do not establish that they describe the same demo build. The picture here is from a 2 April 2026 UE5 video, separate from nfsu2.xyz.

nfsu2.xyz is a 2004 PC recompile. Different engine, different site.

Evidence note: figures attributed only to one publication or to the project's own documentation are single-source reports. The project site, README and playing notes count as one source group. Sources and checked dates are shown with each fact.
I re-read Notebookcheck's article on 28 October 2026: its body explicitly uses TUFU as the short name for 2Unreal5Underground. The Gamepressure file listing is older, so I keep its size and update date separate from the newer gameplay report. I did not download the demo or infer that the listed archive is the build in the video.
Notebookcheck’s report is the one that answers “is it being rebuilt?” in the AI overview sense: a community UE5 project with a playable demo. It is not a career-complete release, and the article does not say Electronic Arts is the publisher. Gamepressure is a download listing. Listings change. If the file size moves, their page wins over this sentence.
A UE5 demo does not give you the 2004 career, the browser free roam from October 2026, or the cloud keyphrase. Screenshots from the demo do not show whether nfsu2.xyz is up. If your goal is the multiplayer city people posted in October, use the browser project and the online page.
No. Revived in this guide means the browser recompile. The UE5 remake is a separate project.
Notebookcheck explicitly calls 2Unreal5Underground TUFU. That name connection is attributed to one publication. It does not establish that the older Gamepressure archive and the newer gameplay footage are the same build.
The listings call it a Windows demo, not a website.
Neither article describes an EA announcement. It is community work.
The wide UE5 frame is the April 2026 video. The start page image is nfsu2.xyz.
