Two race paths exist. In free roam, walk up to a race start and open a lobby of up to six, or three or four for drag. In the Online menu, create or join a game, ready up, and the host starts. Career progress is not touched by the street lobby. The bank still moves: $400, $300, $200, $100 for the first four places, and $75 if you quit. No public source gives a ping map or a region list.

Evidence note: figures attributed only to one publication or to the project's own documentation are single-source reports. The project site, README and playing notes count as one source group. Sources and checked dates are shown with each fact.
VRacer’s video is where I watched a lobby actually fill. The dollar figures are not in that video. They are in PLAYING.md, one document, so I am not treating them as a patch note from EA. When the video shows a disconnect, I can say disconnects happen on camera. I cannot say which city has the worst route.
You need your own car. The prologue 350Z cannot open or join a lobby. At an open career race the card asks Solo or Multiplayer. At a spot that is not open in your career, Enter still opens a multiplayer lobby, and the panel says why the career race itself is closed. The host presses Enter once someone else is in. A five-second countdown follows. The trip back to free roam takes about a minute in the notes.
Leave a lobby by driving more than 40 m from the start. A lobby with nobody else closes after five minutes. If the host looks idle for two minutes, a 30-second countdown closes it.
The street race does not count as a career win or loss and does not unlock the next event. Only the bank changes, and the crib autosave writes it. Quitting from the pause menu costs $75. If the race collapses under you, the notes say it costs nothing.
Distant cars update 5 times a second past 300 m and twice a second past 1 km. That is traffic shaping, not your race ping. Frame cap for Online and LAN is at most 120 even if the display menu offers 240. A low and unstable frame rate is a separate problem, covered on the low-FPS page. Player comments mention Firefox well below Chrome. There is no official region or ping table, so this page does not invent Northeast versus EU numbers.

From free roam, open a lobby at a race start and have the host press Enter. Or use Main menu, Online, Create Game.
No. The street multiplayer race pays the bank and leaves career flags alone.
Circuit, sprint, drag, and URL lobbies pull engine power toward the field. Grip and gearing stay. Street X and drift do not even the cars.
The project does not publish a region picker. Use a wired desktop, cap the frame rate at something the PC holds, and read the low-FPS page. That is as specific as the sources get.
The host waits up to a minute in the LAN room, then starts with whoever is ready.
